Title: SCAM! Domain - Notice Registration Expiration
Post by: Anne on May 07, 2011, 05:15:28 PM
This is something I've not seen before but it will catch people out for sure.

There is never a need to pay anyone like this to register your domain with search engines, not ever! It's a scam!

Just delete it, don't pay anything to anyone who emails you like this ever!

A letter received today from Domain Renewal Group offering to renew one of my domains, which is heading for the shredder once I've added this note about it. The domain is happily registered with a reliable UK registrar, yet the DRG seem to think I should pay them for its renewal. The domain is due in June 2012, the DRG want paying by 27 Feb 2012. I wonder why they think I should pay them 4 months ahead of time, when I have not dealt with them before, am happy with my existing service, and, according to this topic (http://"http://www.fsb.org.uk/discuss/forum_posts.asp?TID=1321&PN=2&SID=22b8z7c4225ca9bzbb488bz7f99f1a3e") on the FSB forum, my domain may not even get renewed anyhow if I were so foolish as to pay DRG!

So, if you get a letter from these folks, my recommended course of action would be to ignore yours too.  8-)
