Topic: Log in pop-up

For quite a while now (I've been using The Bat many years but this problem has been around now for months) when The Bat does its 20 minute auto-mail check, the log-in box for several accounts pops up in the middle of the screen with my user name and password filled in and the update check box checked off.

Why does it do this? The user name and password are correct.

It sure is frustrating.

The pop- up says:

'Account name' - check mail
Username:  xxxxxxxxxx
Password:   xxxxxxxxxx

(tick) Update Account's data

                         OK   Cancel

Two reasons for this:

1. The username or password stored in TB! has gone skewy, so you might want to check the account settings and update it there.

2. The mail server you are connecting to has an authentication issue - I find this is the most usual reason for that happening rather than 1.

It's not always doing it, so it must be reason 2.
I'm not sure if I can do anything about that.

You could ask your email service / ISP depending on who you use - they may have a problem they aren't yet aware of. Also, when you raise those irritating little issues with ISPs they often magically resolve themselves.
